Class Descriptions
Classical Ballet (Levels III-V)
Ballet repertoire with barre and center exercises appropriate for the level and age. Proper placement, technique and movement quality are stressed.
Contemporary Styles
(For teens and adults; beginning-intermed. level)
Various dance styles (Jazz, Modern, Broadway, Lyrical, etc.) influenced by currently popular movement trends.
Creative Movement (age 4-6)
Utilizes "preballet" exercises, musical rhythms, and props for movement exploration and expression.
Dance Basics (age 6-8)
Ballet/Tap I/II (age 7-10)
Divided time between elementary ballet exercises and basic tap steps/rhythms.
FitDance Fusion (exercise)
20 min. each of standing stretches, simple cardio dance movement, and floor toning exercises. Bring a mat, towel and supportive athletic shoes.
Jazz/Hip-Hop for Kidz (most suitable for ages 9 and older)
A fun class of "kid appropriate" movements, combinations and music. Contact KDT if interested in this class not on the current schedule.
Pointe
Optional extension of ballet study by invitation. Twice weekly ballet study expected by beg.-intermed. students age 11-18.
Stretch and Tone (exercise)
A class designed to stretch, strengthen, and tone muscles in an easy-to-follow format of Pilates-influenced standing and floor work. Bring a mat & towel.
Tap Dance (all levels)
Tap rhythms, steps, and combinations stressing sound and movement quality.
Note: When ages are indicated, they are guidelines only; placement is based upon the best class choice(s) for the individual student.
